    Just received a package from Hong Kong (value HK$ 60 = 5 EURO) and I was charged 23 EURO as TVA on the merchandise (Shipment was free). I called the French DHL and they said I have to contact the French Customs; I asked for proof the 23 EURO was paid but request was refused. I asked Ms. Ahlom (+33-8-2020-2525) to let me speak to a supervisor and she said nobody was available. Since DHL costumer service is useless, I'll contact my supplier and tell them NEVER to use your services again.

  3. I sent a used laptop to Lima, Peru. The value of the laptop is $100. It cost me $420 dollars to send the package with DHL and to clear customs. Now I am forced to pay another $300 dollars to DHL Peru for duties/taxes. Why did DHL not disclose that I would have to pay these fees and include in my original shipping cost? I believe DHL should pay at least have the cost they charged me to ship the package. I will never use DHL again and I will be sure to tell everyone by posting on youtube, facebook and every other social network I can find to never use DHL and use an alternative source.

    1. I have the exact same situation, except that my shipment is valued at $6000.00. DHL incorrectly declared the contents and now the package is stuck in customs because the FINE for wrong declaration is $1000.00.

  4. Don't use DHL to send packages to Istanbul. I sent a box to a hotel that was clearly marked with the hotel name, the complete address,and the name of the guest who happened to be Jewish. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute their inability to find a major tourist hotel to stupidity or lack of reading skills. I paid $160 for this fiasco. There is no guarantee that I will get the undeliverable package back. At least I expect to get my money back.

  6. DHL Kota Kinabalu is a joke. Half the time the staff do not know their job. I had ordered some bicyle items from Chain Reaction UK and when I received the parcel, one of the item was msising. The irony of it all was that I was asked to pay tax on the missing item or else I cannot take delivery of the parcel. Thereafter it became a passing parcel roundout. I was asked to contact such and such person in DHL Kuala Lumpur to report the loss of item. There was an initial response but thereafter it was swept under the carpet. I sent out fruitless emails until I finally contacted Chain Reaction. Fortunately they resent the item without any question. I was asked to pay tax again on the item again. Now who should pay for this or DHL should refund me the tax. I have actually written to Chain Reaction to complain the services provided by DHL. Evans Cycles uses UPS and I have no such problem receiving my mail order and they provide excellent service.

  10. I sent a parcel (a gift worth US$50)to D.R Congo to my brother. DHL Congo could not let him get it. They said unless he pays US $150. I called DHL Congo, but no one was able to solve my problem. I realy dont know what to do...

    Right now I am quite angry, disappointed and I am going to complain to main office of DHL in USA.!!!!!!!!
    I will forward them my complete correspondence as a proof of unprofessional services from the side of pick up services.
    This is becoming rude and insulting.
    If it was agreed that I will pay via online transfer after picking up services , I am wondering what kind of authority is given to the courier to refuse to submit pick up service !!!!!!
    I hope that the one who is responsible for refusing to pick up my scheduled package for second time, is also aver of consequences !
    If this is happening in Europe after all I would get my shipment for free!

  12. I am being continually harassed by DHL accounting because it's own billing department won't talk to its own accounting dept. - go figure. I bought something for $1200 but they are charging me duties on $1800 - ENVEN THOUGH I HAVE SENT IN PAPERWORK I KEEP GETTING HARASSED. I have even called the vendor - a German retail website - and begged them not to use DHL - I will not order form this company anymore until they get rid of DHL as the shipper. It's too frustrating.

  13. I give an F grade to DHL's Customer Service for caring about customer satisfaction, and an A+ for total rudeness. This company needs to have a complete overhaul of their employees. The corporate office needs to record phone calls, and even better, listen to them. If you need to collect on insurance because of damage or theft, be prepared for one of their customer service agents to point the finger at the recipient of the package. Forget the insurance coverage. Do these complaints ever get read by the corporate office...I doubt it.

  15. I send a parcel to Philippines on Nov 9,2011 and it arrived on Nov 10, 2011. Nit DHL Philippines never bother to call the party concern for six days, with all contact nos. on the parcel. Is DHL Philippines personell sleeping. Made a complain with DHL KL, but todate no reply. How to use DHL again, I really got to think again.

  16. The above comments basically says it all about this company. I am having very similar issues and as well will not be using this courier for future shipments. The only thing their customer service is useful for is as a highschool debate team. Do not bother calling the United States branch because they enjoy just passing the office phone around and making a joke out of your problem. I am glad I got off easy with a package worth only 25$ US.

  17. i had a package coming from hong kong for christmas. i told the vender it needed to be here in time and i called to check on it and pay any expedite fees. i was told no need to expedite and i would have it four days before christmas. the date it was supposed to be delivered i called to confirm shipment and the package won't be here until after five days after christmas. i was willing to do whatever it took to get here and was told sorry, nothing can be done. i should have called a certain date which happened to be the date i called. they didn't care and were unwilling to help in any way. refusal to give supervisor name and email or number continuously and now refusal to answer any emails. i will never allow a package of mine to be shipped through this company again.

  20. Nice how many people are happy with DHL service and even nicer to see how many replies the commentators got from DHL. NOT !
    I tried to get a simple answer from the Costa Rica office as to whether customs agency services were included in the price and how much duty I would have to pay for a android tablet. Couldn't answer either question. Just told me "we will tell you what it costs when it arrives" This is a product coming from China with free shipping. Sounds like it will be better to have them ship UPS !

    1. DHL world wide is a disaster. When the German Postal system acquired them...it got even worst and has to date lost over 8 billon Euros (app. 12 billon dollars).
      UPS was thinking to acquire them decades ago...and took one lkokm at their books...and had a good laugh.

      Ups has intelligent management...but it seems that the German post does not (Deutsche Post).
      DHL German destroyed an expesive Calssical guitar...and has been playing the numbers' game since
      trying to excuse their inept service...by saying absurd ideas...that after 2 and a half month...the shipping container should have been retained...when in fact they had been requested several times to pick it up....and they never replied.
      Then to say...well it should have been kept ...even longer!

      If you wnat good International service..... use Fed Ex. They have their services...especially...Customs...well known and ease of service.... normally>
      There are always exceptions...due to countrys' "politics"!

  21. I would like to bring into the Knowledge of DHL Global Headquarter and Head office about one dreadful experience we experienced with DHL-KSA services.. We shipped one parcel, a RESCUE BASKET from Jeddah, KSA to our client in Jubail City, KSA.. While on Transit, the aforementioned shipment was damaged that it could hardly be repaired, but their service station still delivered the material.. Unfortunately, our client did not accept the damaged good and informed us that the shipment was damaged and so they don't like to accept... No one from DHL informed us on this even right away... We learned it from our client and so we contacted DHL Service Station here in Jeddah but they forwarded our complaint to the head office in Dammam..So, we sent a DAMAGE CLAIM REQUEST letter to DHL Dammam, and it took for them a long time to respond to our request and address the problem.. In the course of our constant follow up, Mr. Anwar Mohammed, the Customer Care Executive sent us a letter telling us that on behalf of DHL Express, they have arranged for the sum of USD 100.00 being the maximum liability and the freight cost associated with the above shipment to be credited to our account in full...

    Now, we would like to seek advise from you if we deserve to receive the amount of $100 as maximum liability amount for the shipment which costs $4,000?

    We would appreciate it very much if you could give us your feedback as soon as possible...

    I appreciate the offer of getting me a specific quote, but that was not really the purpose of my e-mail.If you have an on-line tool that does not do what it is purported to do I would suggest to you that it is costing DHL money.Did anyone try the tool to see if it is working properly and verify that I am not just incompetent at using it-lol?   23. Malaysia DHL COURIER SERVICE Suck!!

    Do you believe that they can delay my parcel for a week, i calling them since my goods in china air-port on saturday & give them the instruction once the goods arrive Malaysia please do the clearance immediately & i agree the Tax/Duty charges.

    When i was check the goods already arrive Malaysia air-port on Sunday & our cheque prepare on Monday but unfortunately until today (4 May 2012)Friday they said today just do the document submission. do you believe that FUCKING DHL service. My other goods from USA already received on today morning (4 May 2012) i never experience before NOW "DHL SERVICE IS THE WORST EVER COURIER SERVICE".

    Another joke thing is i don't know how many times i have to said i agree with the Tax/Duty charges & everyday day call DHL 1 to 3 times their staff keep on asking the same question & i keep repeat the same answer YES i agree the charges & cheque already prepare. I think DHL Malaysia staff are not understand English at all.

    I already told my oversea manufactures, friends & internet circular please "NEVER EVER using DHL SERVICE".

    May i know who is (Mr. Sharviin Sasasey) from DHL MALAYSIA he is very stupid & rude. I hope i can get the boss contact to directly complaint.

    Also when you call the customers service line i asking most of the question they just said "Don't know" what they really know.

    know after 5 phone calls 3 e mails still no responce when i made 1 e mail to
    there better counterparts TNT there were here with in 4 hours of my mail. i will never wast my time again and the zimbabwen opperation needs looking into.

    The agency here says there was no facture, or invoice, so the customs is holding my $146.00 package, that I need by tommorrow for urgent bussiness, and here I sit for one week, waiting.DHL San Diego, got the original package, re-packed it, (with the paperwork inside) and sent it, and the people here had no clue what to do, so it just sits for one week. I WILL NEVER USE DHL AGAIN IN MY LIFE, AND WILL ADVISE ALL MY CONTACTS DO DO THE SAME.

  28. Today one of your drivers in Wilmette, Edens Plaza south, cursed at us (we are senior citizens) twice and then tried to hit our car with his truck. He was horrible and deserve to be fired!!! His truck was parked and we beeped and pulled around him and he screamed several obscenities and when I asked him to please watch his language he called me a "f...king old bithc". FIRE HIM!

  29. I contacted DHL over 3 weeks ago wanting a quotation to ship a container from India to UK. Three weeks later and many phone calls and emails I still have no quotation.
    I live in Thailand and your office here is a complete waste of time, when someone does pick up the phone, which is not very often, they can only make excuses and worthless promises. I have also called India who are excellent at blaming any and everyone else.
    Is there anyone in your organisation who will actually take any responsibility and get something done. It seems that they are all far to busy protecting their own arse to do any real work.
    If DHL were the last company on earth I would never use them after this, I would my rather not ship the order.

  30. Hello every one. I order some human hairs from india that value $4385.00usd and my shipment has been in us customs for more than 8 days now because their saying that it is under valued. And they want me to recreate a FALISFY invoice that say it is valued at $6000 usd. Here is where it gets interesting. I have provided invoice for mt purchase and I also provided CHASE bank wire transfer for payment to the company in India. Us customs contacted DHL and told them to tell me they won't clear my shipment until I recreate a FALISFIED invoice for $6000 usd. I am so angry because DHL is no help how the hell can they sit back and watch us customs do this to a customer. They are all in bed with each other they are so corrupted. The last time I checked I was living in America! But what their trying to have me do is to lie on myself so they can slap me with a false deceleration for imported goods

    The above subject matter refers.

    We are Solicitors to MR. OLOYEDE OLUWASEYI who is herein after referred to as “Our Client” and on whose instruction and authority we write this letter.


    Our Client informed us that he consulted your customer service desk on Friday the 4th day of January, 2013, to confirmed if the shipment of his parcel can be picked at DHL office NACHO, ikeja on Saturday the 5th day of January, 2013, the officer confirmed it and urge our client to come to DHL office, NACHO, ikeja before 2pm to picked up the parcel in person.

    On Saturday, the 5th day of January, 2013, Our Client also call the customer service on 01-2700908, at exact 12.15pm, to be sure of availability of the parcel at NACHO office, only to be told that the shipment was awaiting clearing at the Airport and was urge to picked the parcel on Monday, in all this Our Client was already jittery because the information on the parcel are secret and very important and need to deliver same on Tuesday the 8th day of January, 2013.

    Meanwhile, Our Client in regard to the customer service officer’s request, went to your NACHO office by 2:16pm today the 7th day of January, 2013, and was told that one AUWA LAWAL picked up the parcel by 11:32am, without regarding the strict instruction placed on the parcel, that the parcel must be received in person by MR. OLOYEDE OLUWASEYI with identification No: international Passport, the officer was nonchalant as to the position of the client and only brushed him aside. ATTACHED HEREWITH IS COPIES OF THE TRACKED DHL EXPRESS SHIPMENT PRINTED ON THE INTERNENT.

    Sir, it’s the norms among the courier services in Nigeria to swindle innocent and unsuspecting customer, Our Client is a Businessman who is in legitimate business, this action or behavior of your services has send him to the hospital, because, the items on the parcel are top secret information that must not get out, that was the reason for the strict instruction. Our Client could not understand why all courier company can not deliver their promises, this is the second bitter experience his having in the hands of courier company.

    Sir, it is pertinent to mention here that the transaction herein ought not degenerate to this ugly seen, for clarity Our Client have among other things a i pad, Hp pavilion Lap Top, Lap Top leather bag, etc, its our client desire to recover this items within a short possible time before the content therein became public issue.

    We hereby demand that you henceforth deliver Our Client parcel with way bill No: 2569659735 to this office within the hour of 10am and 5pm on Tuesday the 8th day of January 2013 and a cheque of N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) only to be address in the name of Our Client for aggravated damages to his health.

    TAKE NOTICE that if at the expiration of the said time tomorrow, we do not receive the parcel and the cheque, we shall not hesitate to seek redress at the court of law in order to redress our client’s claims, and also involve the media.

  34. A customer in Australia purchased one of my banjos and it was shipped via DHL at a cost of $407 USD. Seven days after promised delivery, the banjo is lost or stolen. We isured the banjo for $1,600 USD. Absolutely no one with DHL will proviide any information whatsoever on how to file the insurance claim. The so-called "specialist" promises everyday to return our calls by the end of the business day, and never returns those calls. This "blackout" of insurance claim information must be a corporate policy. We will file a small claims case in the court here.

I got 7 wedding dresses from China the company sent with a value declaration of 199.99$ but the DHL Custom here in Nigeria where we don't produce a thing feet the declaration was too low and so charged me 650$ for goods worth 199.99$ I have been to China many times and I have got a wedding dress for less than 20$. can a blind man lead a man with two eyes. DHL your days are number never again will I use or remend,dhl to anyone. A very bad experience and the customer service desk of dhl are worst

    Why,just a bunch of liars.
    11:19 the driver visited my house and left a hanging note at front door.
    I arrived 11:30 and call 800 number,operator explain me they "paged" driver,anyway the supervisor will contact me in one hour.11:30 I wait till 1:00PM, (she never call) 6:00 PM I did call again and ask to talk with the supervisor supposed to call me,she tell me "we did page the driver,the driver have till 8:00PM to delivery the package...wait till 9:30 called again asked to get in touch with a supervisor at high rank,some Wayne named person tell me,driver is overloaded he will delivery the package today...10:30PM right now,still waiting,,,lies,lies and lies...please do not use DHL.Save time and money.

  42. Never Never send anything with DHL transportation system. They pissed me off so bad, that if there is anyway they can go to hell I will support that. An item that cost me $400.00 turned into $600 even more. Lots of BS with delay and clearance shit. I truly hate their shipper. Hate my sound like terrible word if I can find another word more stronger than hate it should have been great.
